"Ethical issues popped up occasionally and they were not always dealt with in the most ethical way. I could not work for a firm, regardless of what they paid me, where my personal ethics could at some time in the future be called into question."

"Poor management, bullying culture. Not really a great place to work because of the type of people who are promoted to management. Very narcissistic environment. Even if you stay quiet, don't get into trouble and do your work effectively and correctly, its still not enough for them. More like a "mom-and-pop" shop, rather than a corporate business. Cons: Poor management, bullying culture. They've created an uncomfortable, unprofessional work environment."

"Administration is horrible. They play favorites with their staff. No staff bonuses. Expected to wear too many hats for same pay. Changes made to positions without any input or notice. I wouldn't recommend working for this company"

"Not a good experience at all. It is extremely cut throat. Gossip, abusive treatment, unreasonable expectations, and very manipulating, tense work environment. They expect the impossible and set you up to fail. When you do - you are humiliated and condemned. Horrible. Cons: Everything else"

"No chance for advancement. The person I worked with and my manager never gave me a chance at this place - I am certainly better off not being there. Awful experience convinced me to pursue another line of work. Cons: Lousy manager and colleague, uninteresting job, not given a chance to succeed"

"Little respect for work-life balance as claimed. Management is out of touch and focused on the wrong things - absolutely choked to death by internal policies. If you are even a little competent you will be expected to carry those that are not, Quantity over quality is the norm, Rock bottom morale. Awful and couldn’t leave fast enough Cons: Favoritism, policies numerous but poorly enforced"

"Watch your back! Keep detailed records of EVERYTHING you work on at this firm. Attorneys are not loyal and management will NOT back you up. Don't even think about mentioning that you are a single parent. Cons: Cut throat"

"This is a place to work if you are looking to work with an awesome support staff! Assistants are assigned between 5-7 partners/associates/paralegals. Support staff isn't given any credit for the hard work that they put into their jobs everyday so that the Firm thrives financial. There are no bonuses given to support staff and the annual firm raises are not up to standards. Cons: Raises do not reflect your worth at the company, no bonuses are given to Support staff who work the hardest for the company"

"Could be a great place to work but for a minority lawyer with experience, it fell short in many ways but especially on compensation and promotion opportunities. Even with your own clients and fully independent, responsible capacity for rainmaking, and with a lot of lip service paid to diversity (and a lot of time dedicated to it) billable hours are all that matters and people of color and lgbtq attorneys are mostly not partners or in top tiers of compensation. The problem is in the top leadership being well intentioned nmbut mistly old white men stuck on a certain model and way of doing things. But I’d still choose this firm over many others. There are few truly malignant, mean personalities here, though The home office in Milwaukee is much more conservative and stodgy than it should be. It’s an office by office thing. Cons: Simply has some of the same oppressive features and types of personalities as many big firms, especially impactful on people of color, women and minorities. The talk is just y’all."

"Best to have a very thick skin to work here. Don't let the emails get to you. Not much will change at this firm until a certain person in a position of power is put in their place, or removed. Additionally, not much will change until there is more diversity among the higher ranking individuals of this particular firm. Cons: Passive aggressive behavior cut throat environment"

"No opportunity for advancement, bullying, horrible management. Very mundane and routine type of work, no excitement. Requires washing a lot of dishes. Cons: Everything else"

"Unfortunately, I absolutely love my co-workers, everything else stinks. I support 6 attorneys (3 partners, 3 associates). F&L is great for the attorneys (raises, bonuses, etc.) but not the support staff. F&L has taken away most of the little things they gave supports, i.e., birthday celebrations, 1/2 day PTO for work anniversary and staff appreciate, 1/2 day early dismissal day before holiday and making up 3 1/2 hours a week for doctor visits (now you have to use PTO time). Cons: no bonus, bad raises"

"I worked at Foley & Lardner full-time for less than a year Cons: Outdated Mad Men atmosphere where assistants were looked down on and didn't matter No camaraderie or interaction between lawyers and assistants Outdated work systems and understaffed/under appreciated environment Rampant harassment No perks or benefits HR played dirty when I informed them I would be leaving, telling me to consult my boyfriend before turning down my counter offer and that if he were in the room he would tell me to stay. When I turned them down, they insisted I give details about where I was going and who I would be working for. They then continued to badmouth my new company and became incredibly passive aggressive."

When will they realize that everyone should be treated equally from the staff to the Attorneys. If you ever are injured and need to go out on disability, forget it. You have a black label over your head for the remainder of your time there. Nobody is safe, even those who should be protected by a federal law. Don't just worry about the bottom line, you need to actually care about the person!"

Office Manager has a disturbing contentment in stirring up trouble without review while being confrontational. There is a consensus in the firm regarding this person but people are afraid. Staff seem to be considered "less than" in comparison to attorneys. Zero support from HR."
